Hello everyone, the first month of 2021 has already come to an end. This means that I am back with another post about my ‘huge’ pile of money and investments. I haven’t been as active on the blog this month. I have some other personal projects running and my full-time job still requires a lot of my time as well (naturally). Anyways, let’s get into my portfolio update for January 2021.
Don’t forget that you can always find an up-to-date overview of all the ‘numbers’ in my portfolio on the My Portfolio page.
Portfolio overview
This was probably the most volatile month I had so far. The numbers I am showing in this post could potentially have changed by a couple of hundred Euros by the time I’m done writing. Not much has changed in my stock portfolio though. I am still following the strategy I’ve set out for myself. The last couple of days have been quite choppy and there are some interesting things happening with stocks like GME. I am quite interested in how that will turn out.
I have made a change to my cryptocurrency portfolio this month. XRP has been changed for ADA. XRP seems to be pumping right now so in retrospect it might not have been a good decision. I do think that Cardano has an interesting project and I also wanted to try staking! It is a very small amount of my portfolio so it should not have a big impact
Monthly Cash-flow
My monthly cash flow is still the same. It could change a little bit next month due to a small raise I got. My savings were a bit different this month. My ETF investments were a bit lower because I am saving a bit more cash due to a possible real estate investment that might come this year.
Portfolio Allocation
- Cash: Saved €1100
- Stocks: Invested €500 – €277.76 appreciation
- Crypto: Invested €100 – €5062.42 appreciation (!!)
This was definitely a great month if we look at the amounts my portfolio appreciated. That being said, it was a very volatile month with a lot of ups and downs. Most of the days my portfolio made swings of +€1000. Some days I ‘lost’ or ‘gained’ more than a month’s wage. This is very crazy to think about. I do feel quite numb when these swings happen which is probably a good thing. Certainly when cryptocurrencies are such a big part of my portfolio.
The tone has been set for 2021. I am still up by a decent amount this month although it was €3-4000 more at some point. These are the swings you won’t notice in a monthly update. If 2021 will continue like this, it will be one hell of a rollercoaster!
